Ready to sing? Start to Sing Kick-off
On Saturday, September 19th, 2026, the Domplein transforms into one big swinging choir. Whether you have been singing in a choir for years or just in the shower: come to the kick-off of Start to Sing! Join the free sing-along, then dive into inspiring singing workshops and discover everything about singing. Singing together connects and energizes. Be there, let your voice be heard, and experience the magic!
Sing-along with InterVocaal
13:00 - 14:00 h | on the Domplein, Utrecht
On Saturday, September 19th, from 13:00 to 14:00 h, hundreds of us will sing together on Domplein in Utrecht, led by conductor and singer Rinske van der Meer and pianist Martijn Vriesman of InterVocaal.
It is for anyone who feels like singing or wants to discover singing: in their own unique style, yet together. The repertoire ranges from Dutch and English pop music to international world music. Everything will be sung and accompanied on the piano, making it easy for everyone to join in. We will project the lyrics onto a large screen. After just a few minutes, a resonant multi-voice choir will emerge. It will be fun, relaxing, and energizing. Take a look here as well.

After the sing-along on the square, we go indoors to dive further into the world of singing. Choose from a range of free workshops: from classical singing and South African swing to conducting and the secrets of the voice. In between, browse through the expo, meet organizations from the field, and round off the afternoon with a tea or coffee in the foyer!

16.10 - 17.10 h | In the Pieterskerk, Pieterskerkhof 5, Utrecht
On September 19th, the season opening of the 'Pieterskerk Concerts' series will take place in the Pieterskerk, located near the Domkerk.
A returning part of this season opening is the sing-along. Everyone who enjoys singing together and can read sheet music is warmly welcome. Because the sing-along is intended as an accessible event, the repertoire is tailored accordingly. Sheet music is available on site.
This year, the sing-along will be led by Elske te Lindert, organist and choir conductor.
Additionally, various choirs will perform in the Pieterskerk between 13:00 and 16:00 h in a 'choir taster'. Free entry and exit. Admission is free; donations are appreciated. Organized by the Pieterskerk Concerts Foundation. Look here for more information about the program.
Practical info
How to get there
Domplein in Utrecht is one of the city's most central locations and is therefore easily accessible, especially by public transport and on foot.
- Public transport: From Utrecht Central Station, you can walk through the historic center to the square in just over 10 minutes. Bus line 2 takes you from Utrecht Central Station to the Domplein bus stop. Various lines stop at the nearby Janskerkhof.
- Bicycle: Domplein is perfectly accessible by bicycle. Near – and likely also on – the square, you will find various free (guarded) municipal bicycle parking facilities, such as at Mariaplaats/Zadelstraat, or at the City Hall (Stadhuis) on Ganzenmarkt.
- Car: If you are traveling by car, it is best to park in one of the nearest parking garages (such as Springweg or Hoog Catharijne) or use a Park & Ride (P+R) facility on the outskirts of the city (such as P+R Science Park or P+R Westraven) to travel from there to the city center by bus or tram.
Accessibility
- There are general disabled parking spaces in Voetiusstraat, Domstraat and Hamburgerstraat.
- The Sing-along is on Domplein in front of the Pandhof. We provide space for wheelchair users at the front near the stage.
- The main entrance at Domplein 4-5 is wheelchair-friendly with sliding doors that open automatically.
- There are a few connecting doors in the corridors, which may be more difficult to open from a wheelchair. There is always someone nearby who can provide assistance.
- There is an elevator to the first floor: Upon entering, go straight ahead; after the toilets, follow the corridor to the left.
- There is a fully accessible toilet facility on the ground floor; go straight ahead on the left from the entrance.
- The Marnixzaal is on the first floor. The other workshop rooms are on the ground floor.
- Sound amplification: In the Marnixzaal and the Torenzaal, the workshop leader can use a microphone to amplify the sound.
